Entrance hole, with bark removed, of the black twig borer, Xylosandrus compactus (Eichhoff). Small attack-emergence holes, 0.7 to 0.9 mm in diameter, associated with brood chambers in the pith of a dead twig are signs of black twig borer infestation.
